I’ve made the most of a break in the rain today to get out in the garden. (Belatedly) pruning raspberries, checking for any action in the pond, and spotting signs that spring is ready to be sprung.
I find this time of year rather bittersweet. There is, after all, hard weather to come for a while yet. But at the same time the days are getting longer and there are fresh shoots poking up from the ground.
The sweetness seems to win out for many couples, with February’s gloom overcome by the month’s status as peak engagement season.
If you’re popping the question this month or giving an answer then huge congratulations to you! Here’s to your sweet joy and many bright days ahead.
The gorgeous painting here is by my Nan, Lily Jarman, whose favourite month of the year was… February!
