Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about celebrant ceremonies

Here are answers to the questions I'm asked most often about my services and how celebrant ceremonies work.

About celebrant ceremonies

What's the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?

A registrar performs legal ceremonies following previously set formats with limited personalisation. A celebrant creates completely bespoke ceremonies written specifically for you, with no restrictions on content, location or style.

Do we have to do the legal bit separately?
Can we have our ceremony anywhere?

Working together

What if we're not sure what we want?

That's completely normal and exactly where I can help most. Many people come to me knowing they want something more personalised than the standard, traditional ceremonies but aren't sure what that looks like. Through our conversations, I'll help you discover what content feels right for your celebration.

Can you include religious or cultural elements?

Practical details

What happens if it rains during an outdoor ceremony?

We'll always have a back-up plan. This might involve a marquee, moving to an indoor space, or simply getting out the umbrellas.

Do you provide equipment like microphones?
How do you handle family dynamics or difficult situations?

Fees and booking

What's included in your fee?

Fees vary according to the service required. My wedding ceremony service includes all our planning meetings, writing your bespoke ceremony script, coordination with your other suppliers, and of course delivering your ceremony on the day. Travel within 25 miles of Lewes is included.
